Welcome Roy Hyatt, U.S. Navy Retired Officer CWO-W4. Pearl Harbor survivor. He was stationed aboard the USS Medusa and had just finished breakfast when the attack began. After the attack, he was sent to the USS Oklahoma to help rescue survivors and retrieve dead bodies. Please follow the Pearl Harbor link for more information and photos. Roy was born in Fields, LA on October 22, 1915. Roy received the nick name "Chips" from his shipmates because he reminded them so much of the character Chips in the movie Mr. Roberts. He was one of the kindest gentleman and officer you would have ever met. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Maria Joan Hyatt. They met at Boston's Latin Quarter in 1946. It was love at first sight for the two and they married 1 month later. Roy is also survived by his 2 sons, Roy Jr and John, 3 grand children - Brian Hyatt, Desiree Springer and Jennifer Hyatt and 2 great grand children. Roy Hyatt passed away at his home in Apopka, FL with all his family present. Last updated: Photos & Family Tree, added the family tree files. Lots to see here. Also added a Genealogy links page.
